OUR STORY

Kriega’s goal from day one was to make the highest-quality and best-designed motorcycle-specific products. Launching in 2000, we rewrote the rules when it came to soft luggage. We quickly became the industry benchmark by offering unrivalled standards of functionality and manufacture. Kriega was formed by the experience of living and riding in Wales, where our headquarters remain. It’s a motorcycling mecca, despite gaining notoriety for its regular, prolonged rain and lashing winds. Road, dirt, and competition riders all journey to Wales for the best, and most demanding riding in the United Kingdom.

It’s hard to imagine now, but there were no motorcycle-specific backpacks, worthy of the name, when Kriega launched. The fundamental principles we laid down, and stick to, were to not cut corners, and to make the fewest compromises possible. Starting with one model of backpack, the Kriega template was set. We construct using the best quality materials available. We established a base level of attention to detail and design like no other, creating our own aircraft-spec aluminium adjusters, and launched the ground-breaking, and much-copied, Quadloc™ harness.

It was a conscious decision to be a non-fashion brand that focused on function-driven design unconstrained by a pre-determined price. Kriega luggage is literally guaranteed to last a decade of hard riding. We still see our very first production run of backpacks in regular use, nearly 25 years later.

As a start-up, we poured everything into design, development and manufacture, so early marketing, in those pre-digital days, meant getting our new R35 onto the backs of high-mileage journalists, road testers and editors. Their reports and reviews did the rest, and we haven’t looked back since. Kriega quickly rose to the very top of the motorcycle market in terms of brand perception and user satisfaction, where we still stand.

Kriega has remained independent, with the founders involved on a daily basis. This independence means Kriega is able to produce exactly the products it believes in.
